Our events

Project Kalon organised a pop-up experience at Boon Lay Community Center on 5,6 and 8 September 2022. We collaborated with the MP of Boon Lay, Minister Desmond Lee, and the Community Center at Boon Lay to organise the event. The event got off to a slow start, with only 7 seniors joining on the first day. However, the 7 seniors really enjoyed the game and hence invited their friends over the next few days. As a result, we managed to host over 50 seniors and teach them about Pétanque, introducing the sport to them.

Project Kalon went down to Tampines Care Home for a number of sessions in November and December 2022 for the seniors there to have a new experience with Petanque. The elderly enjoyed themselves thoroughly and some elderly even won prizes! Project Kalon looks forward to more opportunities to work with Tampines Care Home again :)

Project Kalon's event at Tampines Kheng Chiu from 21 to 24 December 2022 was an exceedingly special one. Not only did Project Kalon work with the elderly here, Project Kalon also played Petanque with young kids! Both young and old enjoyed the programme that Project Kalon planned, from colouring to origami to Petanque. Project Kalon is looking to expand our operations to involve children and young beneficiaries in the near future!

From 6 to 8 December 2022, Project Kalon headed down to Ci Yuan@ Hougang for yet another fun and enriching session. The winner of our mini Petanque competition won a massive set of Ferrero Rocher, and was presented with it by our chairman, Ethan Chan. Ci Yuan @ Hougang was invigorating and we hope that the elderly enjoyed the sessions as much as we did! 

Golden Ginger Home hosted Project Kalon on 22 December 2022. The unique experience of Petanque piqued the elderly's interest, and support for the game was very high. We thank Golden Ginger Home for the chance to work together for this event!

At NTUC Serangoon Daycare, seniors explored the game of Petanque while bonding with our volunteers. The sessions from 14 to 16 December culminated in a mini competition, where the elderly had the opportunity to win prizes!

St. Lukes Eldercare had Project Kalon come down on 23 December 2022 for the residents to try out Petanque. It was an fulfilling session for all!

From 22 to 28 December 2022, Project Kalon hosted a booth at the Great Bay Fiesta for fundraising purposes. The fundraiser was an absolute success, with Project Kalon obtaining the money required for expansion and existence. Members of the public were enthusiastic to try out Petanque, and were amazed at our efforts at community service. We are immensely grateful for the support from the public and we will continue to serve the community in any way we can!

On 12 December 2022, Project Kalon began partnership with NTUC Pasir Ris Nursing Home. While most other events are one off, Project Kalon still works with NTUC PRNH, with volunteers going down every Saturday morning from 930 to 11am to interact with the elderly and play Petanque with them. This long-term partnership will be fruitful for both the elderly and the volunteers of Project Kalon, and we are heartened that this is the case. 

Similarly, Project Kalon still has an ongoing partnership with Fei Yue Serangoon, which begun on 21 December 2022. This active aging centre has incorporated our Petanque programme as one of the key events in the centre, with us going down every Wednesday morning to play Petanque with the elderly. The elderly truly relish our company and the game and we hope that this will continue in the year to come. 

Our continued expansion led us to Redhill, where we carried out events from 3 to 12 January 2023. It was a teary affair on the last day as we bid farwell to the seniors, a testament to the good work that we had done and the impact that we had on their lives in such a short timeframe. 

Our event at this NTUC Health Day Centre for Seniors (Bukit Merah/Silat) was memorable, where the elderly had fun trying out Petanque for the first time on 10 January 2023. One more community that we have served :)

On 5 January 2023, Project Kalon went down to PLMGS to pitch our project to the ladies as part of their VIA recruitment. This event was made possible through NTUC Health. The ladies were extremely enthusiastic and many joined us as regular volunteers following this session!

On 28 January 2023, Project Kalon had the first of fortnightly sessions at Geylang East Nursing Home. The elderly were thoroughly impressed and excited by the prospect of this new game, and future sessions are sure to be satisfactory for all involved.
